When looking at the most famous Japanese imagery, most people think they are paintings. But actually they are woodblock prints. Each colour was printed with its own woodblock. This rare display demonstrates the woodblocks and prints: middle row is a separate print, top row as a whole image. Remember to look from right to left. The photo has only the beginning and an end, about 10-12 are not here. |
